> When you consider the style of game he played I think his interception rate really isn’t that bad. Of course he’s thrown some goofy ones at bad times but he never shied away from the deep passes and he didn’t baby his QB rating like some others we’ve seen (Kurt Warner, I’m looking at _you_). He just accepted the INTs as a consequence of his style and never made excuses for them (that I can recall).

I’ve grown to despise Favre over the last 8 years, ever since his yearly “will I retire?” drama started. But I do have to give him credit for one of my favorite press conference quotes. He’d just thrown 6 interceptions in a playoff game that the Packers lost, (obviously), and when asked about it he said something to the effect of “I would have thrown 6 more. I’m trying to win a game.” I don’t remember the exact wording, but it wasn’t ironic. Even though I dislike the guy, that quote still makes me think “Fuck yeah!”

> I think you’re correct. The streak though is the the one record that has a lot to do with luck. Peyton could end up needing his appendix out after all. Still, Favre’s streak isn’t quite as unattainable as it appears and QBs probably have the best shot out of any position of breaking it now that lineman have gotten so insanely big.

Jeff Feagles already has it with something like 342.

I believe third place behind Favre is an active streak of ~280, held by a defensive lineman. (I know the length and position, just not positive if it’s active. Mike Golic always brings it up as more impressive than Favre’s, which I wholeheartedly agree with.)

Feagles has the longest streak of games played but since he was a punter, it doesn’t count as having started those games. Farve’s record is for games started.

It’s Mike Marshall and he retired long ago.

Jim Marshall, actually. Also a Viking .. one of the Purple People Eaters. Also remembered for picking up a fumble and running the wrong way to score a safety for the 49ers, I believe.

Although coincidentally, a baseball player named Mike Marshall has an iron man record of his own, having set a record that will probably never be broken when he pitched in 106 games in 1974.
