Treason is a wartime offense. IANAL but I believe selling classified secrets you shouldn’t have to a foreign power would be considered a form of espionage. ---

That phrase “Unlike Biden…Trump is being treated unfairly” implies that Trump believes that Biden has been treated fairly. Seems like that’s worth keeping in your back pocket. Might be handy. ---

As I said (with more emphasis) in a Pit thread, isn’t that nice that when one stands accused of various crimes all one has to do is complain personally to the Attorney General of the United States! Part of me is afraid Garland will actually indulge Trump here and will call the whole thing off because it’s _so unfair_ to Trump’s political career. But I really hope Garland instructs Trump and his lawyers in the proper means to fold it up until it’s all sharp corners and then… file it where it belongs. ---

That’s why a special counsel was brought in; to avoid these kinds of concerns. By putting an independent investigator in charge, he can just wave off any accusations of political motives.
