That article says the first batch of evidence against him has been given to him - is it usual procedure to turn over evidence against someone TO that person? That seems odd to me, and doesn’t that mean he’ll also know who’s going to testify against him? If so, doesn’t that endanger witnesses? Or does this sort of thing happen all the time? ---

I’m sure the evidence was turned over to his lawyers, not to him personally. Nevertheless, per the article [emphasis mine]: > The evidence also includes grand jury witness testimony — which means **Trump now knows who testified against them and what they said** — as well as material obtained through subpoenas. I believe that each side is required to show the other side what evidence they have. ---

Accused of trying to blackmail Ukraine into making up accusations about Biden in exchange for already-authorized international aid? “They’re trying to convict me over a phone call!” Accused of colluding with Russia to subvert the 2016 election? “Russia, Russia, Russia.” Accused of trying to browbeat Georgia into committing election fraud? “Another perfect phone call.” And now accused of espionage and obstruction of justice? “Boxes.” ---

Why should it seem strange? A defendant in a criminal trial is entitled to know the case against him, so he can prepare a defense. They even provided notes pointing out areas of interest in the surveillance tapes instead of just dumping days or weeks of raw footage on the defense to work with however they wanted. And apparently grand jury witness testimony doesn’t have to be turned over until AFTER witnesses have testified at trial. They only have to say who is going to testify. That part struck me as strange, but that’s what was said. But they sent almost everything (not the classified stuff) over with a bow on top (figuratively speaking, of course). My guess, they’re trying to impress upon trump and Nauta that they have the good.
