Right. That “nine months” fact is CRUCIAL, and must be made clear in any context this comes up, even an “oops - wrong thread” situation. Because it has unjustly skewed the Supreme Court in s certain direction, it’s already had an effect. If there is a narrow decision around, say, January 6 2025, that seals the fate of American democracy, it will have been an even more momentous fact. Again, nothing personal, it’s just something we MUST get right, especially in a forum dedicated to “fighting ignorance.” ---

back in florida today. per cnn: US District Judge Aileen Cannon will hear arguments from defense attorneys on two separate bids to throw out charges in the case. In the first motion, Trump’s valet and co-defendant Walt Nauta alleges he is being vindictively prosecuted, and in the second, Trump and his co-defendants argue the indictment suffers technical flaws requiring its dismissal. ---

Is there a chance that Cannon will throw the case out based on either of these motions? And if so, is that it? Also, why was this case charged in Florida? Couldn’t it have been charged in Washington DC, where the documents were stolen from rather than in Florida where they were taken to? Isn’t the crime committed the moment you step out of the SCIF and take the SCI with you? (And now this has got me picturing Trump ala Jimmy in Pulp Fiction asking if there is a sign on Mar a Lago that says “Classified Document Storage” to which I am compelled to respond I think so but I can’t tell because it’s in Cyrillic.) ---
