Nitpick: **11 days** before the election.

[Comey made announcement on Clinton email probe days before election to give himself ‘cover’: Trump spokesperson - ABC News (go.com)](https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/comey-announced-reopening-clinton-email-probe-days-election/story?id=54470601)

Had it been a few weeks, it might have blown over. Comey did this because he assumed Clinton would win the election.
