I have had it with my next door neighbor’s thump-thump-thumpity-thumping music. Numerous requests to turn it down–just a notch or two would do it–have fallen on deaf (ha!) ears. I know the apartment manager has talked to them but that hasn’t done the trick either. I’m normally quiet as a mouse, but tonight I’m going to see if 500 watts worth of _Live At Leeds_ can make an impression on them. If I need backup, I have _Made In Japan_ and _Appetite For Destruction_ waiting in the wings. ---

I know many people who are extremely bothered by hearing music in languages they don’t understand. Some opera, operetta, zarzuela or musicals in foreign languages would be good; playing foreign versions (which may even be the original ones actually) of songs which are well-known in English would IME be specially painful for those people. Or Christmas carols and spirituals, lots of those have multiple language versions. I crack up every time Johnny Cash’ rendition of “We shall not be moved” comes up in my playlist, having known it first in a Spanish version associated with anti-government protests (here by [Joan Baez](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kKopB66ujuQ)). ---

In the words of my dear, sweet, Super Lutheran, elderly mother: I am sick of this fucking snow. It’s at the point where plowing the end of the driveway is pointless, as the snowblower cannot lift the snow high enough over the snowbanks. Driving is difficult as you cannot see around corners. ---

Heh. Co-worker walked over this morning and asked if I was the one who ordered all of this snow. “Yes, I am. But when I ordered it 6 months ago, I specified large deliveries, like 15-18” at a time, and they keep sending it over a couple of inches at a time."
