I used to be fat, but lost over 60 pounds in the past year and am now on the lower end of the normal range for my height.

When I was fat, I was absolutely invisible,

However, I didn’t realize the true extent of it until after I lost the weight and noticed all the positive attention I was getting. All of a sudden cute guys were looking at me and talking to me. I would go out and, for example, standing at the bar waiting to get a drink, the bartender would actually notice me and pay attention to me. Good-looking guys at the bar would look at me and actually try to talk to me. I would go to normal stores in the mall and not feel like people were staring at me thinking, “what is she doing in here? She wouldn’t fit into any of the clothes in here.” I don’t have to shop at Lane Bryant anymore; I can go to the Gap or whereever and can fit into single-digit sizes!

It’s an amazing feeling and so positive for my self-image that I will never let myself get fat again.

Do you think you’ll miss your old invisibility? (not necessarily what came with it, just the status itself)

> [Here](http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/dandyaster/detail?.dir=mail&.dnm=cf09.jpg&.src=ph) is a picture of my family and me. I’m next to my brother, Eric. I have always struggled with my weight and I have a double chin I can’t get rid of. Part of why I feel unattractive is self induced: I rarely wear make-up and I keep my hair short so I don’t have to mess with it.

> Also, I’m not very comfortable with my femininity, so I feel like a cross-dresser when I do dress up. Being “invisible”, while frustrating, feels more comfortable.

I’ve got to agree with the others. You are far from unattractive. You have a smile that says you have a good personality, a sense of humor, and you are definately not what I imagine when I hear overweight… What is that 5-10 lbs over “ideal?” Whatever that is.

I’m 28 and single, if I met you in person, I would flirt- and would be honored if you returned interest.

Absolutely not. I didn’t like being invisible, because it make me feel like a nothing. Like no one gave a shit about me. Like it or not, people do judge a book by its cover. And I hated being dismissed as a person just because I was overweight.

Good for you, then. Congrats on reaching your goals, by the way.
