Unrelated to the language question but related to the mascara: you’re talking about the “core” Colossal mascara, with the yellow tube and metallic purple lettering?
That’s my favorite drugstore mascara! I gotta figure out what eyelash properties make mascaras work so differently from one person to the next, because every type will have fierce fans and people who can’t stand it. I personally have NO clue why the pink and green Great Lash is so beloved; I’ve tried it many separate times and it fucking SUCKS on my lashes (looks as though I didn’t put any mascara on but somehow will still smudge all under my eyes. Hawt!).
I have moderately sparse blonde eyelashes so a lot of mascaras, like the rest of the maybelline lineup, make me look like I’m going nightclubbing. Great lash looks normal in normal makeup (though I do agree that the waterproof isn’t exactly waterproof–instead of smudging it will just sort of disappear from my eyes). They used to have one with a really skinny brush that I loved but for some reason you can only get it in blackest black, if you can find it at all. Half the mascaras at the drug store don’t carry even brownish-black.
And there’s another possible answer - the Maybelline marketing department is already crowing with triumph over this thread, which has already generated more free publicity than a decent poster campaign (heh, no pun intended - originally, anyway!).
Well, there’s a place around here that calls itself “Ex’pressions College”. Google says it’s a college of Digital Arts.
Maybe their graduates are responsible for this. I had heretofore thought that listing a college named Ex’pressions (hell, even without the apostrophe) on your resume wouldn’t be the best way to actually get a job, but apparently it’d be just fine for the folks at Maybelline.
I have recently discovered that Lancôme makes something called “super enhancing mascara base.” It coats your lashes with this stalwart white stuff, and after that, when you put on mascara it’s REALLY effective.
If you have an Ulta near you, I HIGHLY recommend Essence’s Volumizing Lash Powder. It’s a jar of fluffy cotton fibers and mascara wand, so it’s basically the same as Lancôme’s but in less convenient packaging. But it’s only $3.49! One coat of mascara, roll the powder on, another coat. It’s awesome.
Alma, I see we have diametrically-opposed mascara preferences. If you can’t tell, I gravitate towards the drag queen lash aesthetic.
