I don’t know what college parties you haven’t been attending, but I never once saw girls making out. Sure, there were boobies occasionally (to my embarrassment several times they belonged to my girlfriend), but no girl-on-girl. Maybe I should’ve gone to school in So-Cal.

Yeah, and what’s Mother Nature’s Plan? How did you find out her plan? Please show your work.

> There’s also the phenomenon of the LUG {Lesbian Until Graduation}: an, ahem, large percentage of the women I knew at university who publically - and often vociferously - identified as gay or bi mysteriously straightened out when job time rolled around. Not saying that’s true of all lesbian or bi women, of course, but I think for a lot of girls at college the attraction was in doing something rebellious and forbidden, like getting a tattoo or a eyebrow ring.

I don’t deny the phenomenon exists but it could also be attributed to someone being bi but much more into the opposite sex. I’m a guy and identify as bi and would have no problem being as physically intimate with a man as a woman but when it comes down to life-partnering, I want it to be with a woman.

Men are just an interesting diversion to me but that doesn’t make me any less bi.

It may just be my spin on the whole thing but didn’t the girl on girl action really become popular after the Brittany Spears/Madonna kiss. It got all kinds of attention from the guys, and now all the girls want to be hot in the eyes of the boys.

From what I have seen in my neck of the woods this is more accepted in the 35 year and under age range for females. It doesn’t appear so much that they are bi, but that they do it to impress the males who popularily state that it is hot. Even the men that are older than this age range claim to find it appealing. But when my curiosity presses me to ask and find out more, most men I have talked to state they would not really want their female partners to be with another woman.

You’ve almost got a pretty offensive post there. Too bad it makes almost no sense at all. Perhaps you’d like to take another shot at it? While you’re doing that, please be sure to clarify who it is exactly that’s asking you to go bi or gay.

You poor poor man. I feel such, uh, sympathy for you. But fear not, the trend you mention is towards bisexual women. **Bi** sexual. Now, if all women were to become lesbians, that might present some difficulty. But if they’re all bi, it means they’re still attracted to men, so it’s not exactly a problem.

If you have any other concerns that are based entirely on a misunderstanding of prefixes, feel free to ask!

I strongly suspect it’s because many people, both male and female, fall somewhere in the ‘bi’ spectrum, but it’s much easier for women to try it out without changing their identity in some way. It’s just more socially acceptable for women to make out than men.

Nope, I’m saying I am a bisexual girl, however, I ended up marrying a man. If anything were to happen to our marriage, I would still be bisexual, and would date women as well as men.

Some people don’t “get” that a person can be bisexual, but can settle down and marry if they find someone they truly love (and _want_ to settle down). I just happened to fall in love with a man. We will make babies. Had I partnered up with a woman, I would have wanted to adopt children. This doesn’t make sense to some people, so I always say, “I was born bisexual, but I married into a straight relationship”. Sorry if that was unclear.

My former best friend – a lesbian – had trouble with this. I tried to explain that being bisexual doesn’t mean being incapable of monogomy: she wouldn’t cheat on her girlfriend with another woman just because she’s a lesbian, and neither would a bisexual necessarily cheat on his/her SO – with either sex – just because they’re potentially attracted to everyone. I think using her own relationship as an analogy helped, but I still don’t think she really “got” it.

Sometimes it was really frustrating to be the more open-minded one… 🙂
