I suspect that these women don’t think that they are getting into some kind of good financial deal by having his children. First, I suspect that some of them had the children before he began playing professional football and after he left professional football, so they would know that he didn’t have much money. Second, the idea that a woman could live easily on child support from a rich father is wrong. The amount that he is paying each woman per year is somewhere between $10,000 and $20,000. This means that a single woman with an acceptable job would go from being a single woman with enough to scrape by on to being a single woman with one child with enough to scrape by on, assuming that she keeps her job. ---

How long before it quit looking like a tree and more like a spaghetti factory? I mean, genealogy’s a chore even when the common ancestor only had five offspring by the same mother. Not my job! ---

Before he began playing professional football, he was clearly a star who was going to get a big payday in the NFL. How many women who have gotten pregnant by a NFL (or NBA or MLB or NHL) player do you personally know? Why should I consider you to be an expert on what they are thinking? Do you seriously think you can persuade me by pure assertion with no facts to back your assertions up? You’ve been on the SDMB long enough to know that trying to intimidate me by hectoring me with your beliefs don’t work. ---
