WTF was she thinking. She was out on bail for felony counts stemming from sex with three different students, and she [does it again](A former Davis High School teacher is facing more felony charges after prosecutors accuse the 35-year-old woman of having sex with a teenage boy after she was arrested and charged for allegedly having sex with several students. Brianne Altice was charged Tuesday with three counts of unlawful sexual activity with a minor and one count of dealing in harmful material to a minor, all third-degree felonies. According to an arrest warrant, Altice allegedly had sexual intercourse and oral sex with a 17-year-old boy between November 2013 and August 2014. Her lawyer has dutifully attempted to defend her to the best of his abilities, through filing various motions, but it’s got to suck having a client like this. ---

Yeah, I come from generations of craziness. Had it been the 1990s, my father would be in prison and we would have been taken away from our mother. I did my own share of really, really stupid stuff, and I get it that you just are not thinking, but it’s really unfortunate that even with a possible prison sentence she didn’t get a wake-up call. Her husband has naturally filed for divorce and custody of their child. ---

I agree that it’s likely that she has mental problems of some sort. She should just move. Having sex with a 17-year-old is legal in 38 states and the District of Columbia. There are only 12 US states where the age of consent is 18.\* - As a teacher, she would have been in trouble even in the states with lower age of consent, because most (all? I assume so) of them prohibit teachers from having sex with their students, whether or not the student is over the age of consent. But once she is no longer in a position of authority, that’s different. ---

A judge just found sufficient probable cause for her to stand trial and ordered her held without bail. The teen she is charged with having sex with after her initial arrest, now 18, was arrested last September for witness tampering against another one of her victims. As part of his plea bargain, he was required to testify against her. An English teacher, huh. Usually it’s a math teacher that recognizes that 15 goes into 45 three times.
