[Here](http://www.straightdope.com/columns/011130.html) the great one deals with a _sensitive_ subject, the G spot. He ends with a tidbit about “a female prostate gland”

I’ll bite. 🙂 What is it? What does it do? I took anatomy years ago, and I don’t remember learning about it. Anyone?

Shouldn’t this be in “Comments on Cecil’s Columns”?

Eventually Tuba or someone will move it over there, Ice.

Answering the original poster, two articles from WebMD:

[Skene’s “gland” glands](http://my.webmd.com/content/asset/miller_keane_14166)

> [@](#):
>
> the largest of the female urethral glands, which open into the urethral orifice; they are regarded as homologous with the prostate. Called also paraurethral ducts.

[Secret Spot: Real or Not?](http://my.webmd.com/content/article/1687.51183)

> …So then the G-spot may actually be not on the inner wall of the vagina, but instead, on the other side, closer to the urethra.
>
> Shubach maintains that the structure, usually called Skene’s gland or duct, can be stimulated from the outside of the vagina as well as from the inside, by pressing with the hand gently just below the pubic bone.

> Others, however, aren’t so sure.
>
> “Calling Skene’s gland the female prostate sounds to me as silly as calling the clitoris a female penis,” Hines tells WebMD. "If this structure was to exist, there would have to be some pretty impressive anatomy associated with it, and at this point it just hasn’t been found. …

Sorry, I meant to post it in ConCC. My debt to you TubaDiva.

Thanks Arnold. I didn’t **think** women could have a gland that served the same purposes as the prostate.
