I know this is wayyyyy back in the discussion, but just so everybody knows, the[Joe Biden Defense works](http://talkingpointsmemo.com/livewire/firearms-charge-against-man-who-used-joe-biden-defense-dismissed).

> [@](#):
>
> A prosecutor said he plans to dismiss a firearms charge against the Washington state man who said he just “did what Joe Biden told me to do” when he fired a shotgun to scare off what he thought were car burglars, the Associated Press reported Wednesday.
>
> Clark County Prosecutor Tony Golik said that Jeffrey C. Barton will instead face a charge of obstructing a police officer. A trial for Barton is scheduled for October.
>
> Barton has acknowledged that he fired the gun in July 2013 to deter three men he thought were breaking into cars in Vancouver, Wash. His unorthodox defense came from the vice president’s comments on firearms during a 2013 town hall, when Biden told a questioner that he’d advised his wife, Jill, to “fire two blasts outside” from a double-barrel shotgun if she sensed any trouble at the family home.

I would suggest that Lawrence O’Donnell on MSNBC is full of shit and MSNBC has a history of hiring evening lineup personnel who they later had to fire for saying something stupid.

Keith Olbermann, Pat Buchanan, Ed Schultz, Alec Baldwin, Martin Bashir…

Since there is no member going by the nom de plume of **Brickhead** , can I assume that your use of the term **Brickhead** is your way of saying that you have run out of logical or reasonable argument?

How can **Bricker** ’s point be denied when you look at all the prominent Republicans rushing to renounce, denounce, and condemn these unfortunate remarks on the part of Mr. Willis? I might cite them all if I were not so concerned with overburdening our loyal hamsters with a crushing flood of links and text.

No doubt, Republican officials in MO will need to step up their efforts to protect the sacred value of voter confidence, as this is a perfect opportunity for treachery on the part of CASA, ACORN, and the New Black Panther Party! Responsible Republican leaders will have to move swiftly if the all-important voter confidence is to be protected from the nefarious plots of such as these.

I would suggest that its not Lawrence O’Donnell that’s full of shit.

Olbermann and Buchanan weren’t fired for anything they said. Olbermann just didn’t get along with management and Buchanan published a book. Ed Schulz was only pushed out to allow Chris Hayes to take his time slot. But after Hayes didn’t pull Schulz’s rating numbers, they brought him back. He’s still with MSNBC today.

That’s pretty weak sauce. Also, I like your use of the ominous term “on record”, as if it implies something other than “posted on the SDMB”. However, this let’s-evaulate-Bricker hijack has gone on far enough already, so I intend to drop it.

I would suggest that you are letting your personal political views color your recognition of actual facts.

Regardless of O’Donnell’s political stance, if appears to be factual that no report was made by Ferguson PD. Terr has asserted such was done by another agency, and if so that’s fine, although I’d be interested to know whether this was based on written policy or something done off the cuff by Ferguson’s police chief, or another authority.

I gotta say, I think this is a basically meaningless claim. Here are reasons that some particular Republican might NOT have denounced the claims of the executive director of the MO Republican party, as far as we know:
(1) didn’t hear about them
(2) didn’t feel responsible for what the execute director of the Republican party says
(3) felt that issuing an entire statement whose sole purpose was to disagree with a single stupid remark gave that remark more dignity than it deserved
(4) DID denounced that remark, but it wasn’t widely publicized that the Attorney General of Utah randomly denounced a statement made by the executive director of the MO Republican party, because honestly why would anyone care?
(5) Disagrees with the statement but was busy actually doing a real job
(6) Disagrees with the statement but was politically too cowardly to say so
(7) Agrees with the statement
What right do we have to assume that it’s (6) or (7)?
Sure, there are rare times when it’s reasonable to denounce people for silence… such as, when there is a holocaust going on. Denouncing people for silence, when that silence is their lack of denouncing one random state-level party functionary saying a stupid thing, is pretty ridiculous.

The incident report has been released. According to this, it tells us _squadoosh_, except that it apparently took nine days to accomplish that.

I do find it interesting that under “Victim Information” in the report they list Michael Brown, adult. Gosh, are they trying to prejudice the case or something?

So the St. Louis County police, after more than a week of, no doubt, intense investigation, has come to the conclusion that a person named Michael Brown was shot to death in Ferguson on August ninth. That’s some real fine police work there.

“permitted”? I’m not your nanny. What I am saying is that there’s plenty (WAY MORE than plenty, in fact) of Republicans to criticize for things that that individual person actually said or did, so there’s no reason to also criticize other Republicans for things they didn’t say or do.
