Ferris Bewler's Day Off: How Come...?

Don’t get me wrong: FBDO is one of my favorite movies of all time… but a few more interesting notes about the movie:

Cameron wears a Gordie Howe uniform throughout the movie. A Gordie Howe jersey in Chicago? Was he so depressed as to be suicidal?

When Ferris talks to the two freshman on the payphone, watch the guy standing to the left (the blond guy who looks like Mike D from the Beastie Boys). It’s quite funny.

IIRC, Ferris’s high school is Shermer High School, the same school that gave Emilio Estevez, Ally Sheedy, Molly ringwald, Judd Nelson and Anthony Michael Hall dentention in another John Hughes movie. John Hughes grew up in an area outside of Chicago known as “Shermer,” though not an official town, there is a “Shermer Road”

Hows this for plot inconsistency: Ed Rooney rides the school bus, yet there is NO WAY it was only 3:00 or so when het gets on it. It had to have been 6:00 PM by the end of the film. And how did they get in and out of Chicago so quickly. Traffic here stinks, and if Shermer is where I think it is, there is no way they could have gotten in and out that quickly.

This thread is moving to MPSIMS.

Some of you may be aware of my deep love for John Hughes and his abuser/victim training videos. Jeannie’s seemingly erratic behavior is simply illustrating the underlying message in all JH’s films: the world will run a lot more smoothly as soon as all women learn to properly pander to men.

Yes…
Jeannie’s change of heart reminds me of Scarlett being so content after Rhett rapes her; a little tongue from the bad boy and she is at peace with the world, her prioirities realigned.

Welcome to the board, Gigi!!!
