For me, it all boils down to an individual’s definition of what is a successful species or what is superior? I personally don’t think the human race can lay claim to either of those titles. Oh, and your original post said nothing about our control over the environment as being “consequential”. May I point out that when you get a pet you’re taking on a very large responsibility and a commitment? Certain people here seem to have a seriously deficient grasp of that concept. I hope to God they don’t ever get pets on a whim. Pets may not be children, but I think most pet owners would rate their welfare higher than the furniture’s.
