First, I’m glad to know that eight Dopers will survive the apocalypse, even if one of them is Skald. (bam zing!) Second, yes the Smurf world does have human women, given that it’s the same world as Johann and Pewee. I vaguely remember a nice-looking redhead whom they rescued. I think she then married a prince, but who knows? Maybe that didn’t work out. And finally to the point, I’d want to avoid Miranda from “Serenity”. The Reavers suffered some losses sure, but I bet there’s still a few about. Being raped, killed, and eaten (not necessarily in that order) does not appeal to me. On the other hand, there’s an off chance that Serenity would come back to rescue us, and then we’d have front row seats for season two. That might make it worth it. ---

All these fantasy spots like Middle Earth, Narnia, and so forth would such because of a lack of basic healthcare. Good luck with that impacted wisdom tooth in five years. While I concur that the Marvel and DC universe are slightly hazardous I would definitely avoid [The Authority Universe.](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Authority) ---

The world of the _Mistborn_ trilogy, since it’s filled with constantly falling ash, a filthy gray post-(magic)apocalypse dystopic medieval hellhole, and probably not even survivable in the long run. The people were modified to be able to survive in those conditions, I’m not. The sky is red, the plants gray, the food gritty, the people miserable. ---

The world(s) of Lexx. The Cluster. The Light Universe. The Dark Zone (us). Slavery, starvation, cannibalism, insect wars, cluster lizards, sex slaves, being ground up and fed to a gigantic dragonfly for fuel, dismemberment, robot arms (!), alien carrots that take over your body through, uh, your sphincter - even though the show is a kind of comedy, I don’t think I’d be laughing much.
