Let’s construct a city wherein all the streets are named after songs that name streets. Preferably streets that don’t exist in the world (that is, not LSD, etc.).

Here’s what I’ve got so far:

Fascination Street - The Cure
Poison Street - New Model Army
Detonation Boulevard - Sisters of Mercy
Rain Street - The Pogues

There have to be more, right?

Penny Lane - The Beatles
Alphabet Street - Prince
10th Street - Fun Lovin’ Criminals (ok, not exactly fictional, but never mind)

Does your “etc.” include places like Strawberry Fields?

**157 Riverside Avenue**

REO Speedwagon
_We met a young girl on Main street,
wanted to just pass her by
She was homely, so lonely, She said,
“Can I make love to you.”
We shouted 157 Riverside Avenue._

Oddly, **Electric Avenue** in the Eddie Grant song actually exists. Just around the corner from Brixton station.

:smack: Rereads the OP. _Not_ in the real world.

Sigh.

Though I think I got confused by **Legolamb’s** post, where 10th Street is called not fictional, but Penny Lane isn’t. And I don’t understand the “not LSD” reference in the OP.

Anyway.

Does “Baker Street” refer to an actual street, or just a generic street by that name?

LSD is probably referring to the song “Lake Shore Drive” by Aliotta, Haynes & Jeremiah, which is about the street of that name which runs along the Lake Michigan shore in Chicago.

I have no idea if any of these are real streets, though I imagine somewhere there’s a street named each of these things. Hell, in Ithaca you can find Penny Lane, Lois Lane, Sesame Street, and Della Street. I am not kidding.

Highway 61 - Bob Dylan

Cypress Avenue - Van Morrison

10th Avenue Freeze Out - Bruce Springsteen

“Lover’s Lane” in the song “Lover’s Lane” by the Squirrel Nut Zippers. I didn’t think it was an original composition but according to AMG it is.

\*Broadway really ain’t quite the same

Primrose Lane - Jerry Wallace with the Jewels.

It was very big in the 1950s. In the '60s it even became the theme song of a short-lived television series starring Henry Fonda.
And yes, it really was Jerry Wallace **with** the Jewels, not **and** the Jewels.

Shakin’ Street
It’s got that beat
Shakin’ Street
Where all the kids meet

The MC5. I doubt very much there’s a real Shakin’ Street. So now there’s a place for the kids to hang out, anyway. Besides “The Valley of the Malls” from the Fountains of Wayne song.

And the Van Morrison song is “Cyprus Avenue,” which is very much a real street in Belfast near where Van grew up. Pictures and information are [here](http://www.harbour.sfu.ca/~hayward/van/glossary/cyprus.html).
