# Field Threading PVC/CPVC Pipe - Possible? Any shops?

I’m having a very difficult time getting pipes to align. Steel is out (the object is plastic and must have a glued 2" PVC.
If I switch to threaded connectors, I would be working from both ends toward the middle, and would need a non-standard nipple to connect the 2 halves.
Could I take it to a shop and say “3.65” from fitting to fitting - 2" sch 80 to fit, please?

Google seems to be saying “no”, but here, buy this crap!
Calling a shop and asking them if they can would be obvious and will be tried, but I know of only 2 shops, neither of which could afford to have a $5K machine just waiting.

Actually, it’s a union which is part of the problem. This pipe come up through a concrete pad (it’s a pool pump) and there were only 2" of pipe left - the rest was a mess of old connectors. I was nice enough to install a union. Had I been nasty and said “screw the next guy - I’m using a straight connector”, I wouldn’t have this problem.
These operate at 10-20 psi, and a slightly misaligned union is all that is required to screw this pooch.
Just talked to the guy who’s supplying the parts.
Answer: Sure - maybe. The heat of the cutting can warp and/or harden the pipe - here - buy these adapters. Fine - just what I need - twoe more parts to buy and two more joints to fail.
I’ll end up using the adapters and keep making connecting parts until I get one which works.
Anybody care to say that they’ve tried to have PVC/CPVC threaded and gotten less-than-hoped-for results?

It can be done but the threader has to be sharp, as in almost new.
