Watching the pre-game commentary, it looks like they’ve substantially switched up their positioning to a much more defensive stance. They’re really depending on Wambach to get those crosses with some support from newly starting Cheney. ---

Frustrating their opponents despite having close calls is the way Japan has beaten the supposedly better teams. As I was watching I just noticed there was something missing…I realized I didn’t have a headache from the stupid vuzuvelas from the men’s world cup. Someone must have really put their foot down about those terrible things. ---

Something tells me Germany is more proactive about controlling the environmental aspects of the World Cup than the South Africans. But we are all thankful. ---

Tied 0-0 at half time, US has outshot Japan by a huge margin, 12-4 at the end of this half. The US looks to be dominating the possession so far, but man oh man have they had a lot of close shots. They really need to capitalize on those opportunities early in the second half! ---
