I’ve never seen the US fail at completely rudimentary skills. Not even in the early 2000s when they were starting Pablo Mastroeni and Eddie Lewis.

I don’t know if you’ve ever heard of “Zeiglers wunderbare Welt des Fußballs”, but it’s probably the best TV show in the world about the sport, and they vote for the “Kacktor des Monats”, the “Crap goal of the month”, every month, with contributions from the CL to the deepest depths of German amateur leagues. This goal definitely is a strong contender for the crap goal of the month July.

True. Although the starting Belgium 11 all pretty much play for middling European league teams (aside from Trossard and Courtois), which gave me some hope. And I recognize that middling European teams in the top 4 leagues is still several levels above MLS.
