FIFA World Cup 2026 - discussion etc

I see everyone on Reddit losing their shit over this, but I’ve watched it three times and don’t see a deflection.

I haven’t looked, but instead of following the ball, one should watch the video of the movements of players on the pitch. That might give an indication of changed trajectory or not.

Famous yes, but not for playing in the MLS.

I don’t understand what you’re saying. Another clock? Total time available?

There is only one clock and the time is kept by the referee and also shown in the stadium. This is simply a running clock that starts at a half’s kick-off and doesn’t stop. How much time is added is at the discretion of the referee.

You don’t know what he said.

Announcers (especially American Fox announcers) often don’t know what a yellow card is given for.

The US announcers only mentioned MLS when he showed up on camera. “A lot of MLS players here tonight” he said.

Predictions? Switzerland 2 Argentina 1. The second Swiss goal scored in extra time.

True. It must have been bad considering how much yelling at ref is unpenalized.

Been all Switzerland so far, with a high press. With the ball playing mids Argentina have they should handle it, but they haven’t been playing through it so far.

Not even necessarily bad, but if the ref tells you to go away and you keep arguing you’ll get one.

And now Argentina advancing the ball. Corner Arg.

Damn.

That’s a very well placed corner and a great header. Probably shouldn’t have a 5’9" getting his head on the ball in the goal box though

Lot of Flopping in that England/Norway game.

I still can’t imagine willingly using my head that way.

There really wasn’t. The players are not covered in armour.

Norway had a goal called back due to a flop and England had a PK taken back due to a flop (well, I wouldn’t call it that, because there was contact, but it was a simulating a foul). I don’t think it was flopping like a Concacaf qualifier, but the flops that happened were high profile.

Has anyone commented on the quality of the playing field for any of the games?

The only comment I recall is someone complaining the surface was too dry and it slowed the play down, the surface today looks like shit though.

Yes, Total time available. when the Ref keeps adding various bits of time to the clock it’s tough to keep track of how much time they have left. If the Ref adds time then show what the total is on the screen.

Everything ends up on the ground.

They do
They show the time
Then the added time
The added time is not added to the total clock
So if the ref added 5 minutes ( plus whatever extra ref added on top of that ) to the first half, the second half clock still starts at 45 mins , not 50.

The Swiss coach looks like a guy at the bar that’d send his sugar baby over to try to set up a threesome.
