At times it sounds to me everyone loves Leo but loathes the rest of the team.
Good bit with the individual awards handed over by each of the host presidents and PM.

No shade to @Frodo, but after watching the last 2 (and only the last 2) Argentina games, they sure seem like a bunch of assholes (except Messi). Not just aggressive, physical players, but legit jerks.
Am I wrong in this conclusion?
I think this is right and correct. Just as it should be, considering Messi and the rest of the team.
ETA:
No, you are not.
Yeh he definitely deserves better from his team. Frodo comes across as a lovely guy.
Sometimes is a strategy, but if you go too far, as they’ve done several times you end up looking like an asshole, I hope that gets talked about by Scaloni or whoever takes up the NT if he goes and tamped down to just “strategy if desperately needed”.
I suppose it’s worth pointing out that Enzo Fernández’s first yellow was basically for being an asshole.
Still looking at that award line.
Dammit King Felipe just towers.
And there, a clean handover of the trophy to Rodri from Donnie.
Paredes too.
Exactly
I wouldn’t have been mad if they gave the Superior Player of the Match award to the Argentine keeper. Dude played the game of his life out there.
As it has not been observed yet I just want to point out that during the second and last “hydration break” they played loud music, as they always do in the USA. Life is life. That was paid by Argentina, I am sure. Or just plain FIFA corruption, as Grimafiantino and Saurump wanted Milei to win and Sánchez to lose. Because every Argentinian player knows this warm-up and it is inspiring for them. Godott, I love it too! Playing this was manipulation.
It was not enough. ![]()
Best. Conspiracy. Theory. Ever.
Honestly, of course I know that warm-up scene and how Frodo’s God danced with the ball, but I’m also on record here that “Live Is Life” is the worst pop song of all time. ![]()
Yes!
But did they play this song or not? Did I imagine it? Why did they play
if not for manipulating purposes? Come on, that can’t be a coincidence.
First conspiracy theory that is right! EVER!!! Fuck yeah!
I really don’t know, I had the sound turned off during that whole affair, including “halftime show”.
They should’ve made Lamine Yamal or Nico Williams temporary captains just for this game or something like that so that fucking racist had to give the trophy to them.
Just checked, it can still be seen on ARD and rewinded to minute 67. Yes, it was Life is life, loud and clear.
And you are right: it is a bad song. Very bad.
Oh now the sadness is starting, hello darkness my old friend.
I’ll take a warm bath and try not to think of this for a while, see ya.
O f course I am! There’s only one song just as bad, Terry Jack’s “Seasons In The Sun”. God, how I hate these two, and they get airplay to this day.
With Spain’s victory, they become the first country to be simultaneous champions of men’s and women’s football. Germany is the only other country to have won both tournaments, but the victories of their men’s and women’s sides have never overlapped.
IIRC, they now have won the WC as reigning European champion for the second time (after 2008 and 2010), another record. I can only think of Germany pulling that off in 1972 and 1974, but only once.
