To wrap up the hydration break conversation, the Telemundo broadcast didn’t cut away to an ad break during hydration breaks so it wasn’t as disruptive and ultimately far less offensive than the Fox broadcast earlier.
I enjoyed Telemundo so much that I might even watch it when it’s available in English elsewhere, though I wouldn’t mind an audio feed from say the UK that was somehow magically synched up. ETA: I should also check the German TV stations and see how they are.
The empty seats are infuriating. WTAF FIFA! I get you are bunch of grasping amoral corrupt bastards who would sell your mother for a few bucks of marketing money. But you had one goddamned job. It’s the world cup, a small school athletic committee could throw it together the week before and still handily fill any stadium on the planet. How did you screw this up so badly!
The next game in Guadalajara is next Thursday, the 18th. Once again South Korea will be on the pitch, but this time the opponent will be Mexico. I’m guessing that empty seats won’t be an issue for that game.
Near-score for Canada on a well-played combination to beat the keeper, but the Bosnian center-back gets a foot on the ball, which goes off the bar and back onto the field.
Match has opened up some, just as I have to leave. Bummer!
This is a bit of a golden generation for Canada. Davies and David are both talents on the world level, not just the CONCACAF level. Also Mexico and Costa Rice and in bit of a slump. They’d qualify comfortably. In a decade we’ll see if the talent pipeline is there to stay.
