In the early nineties, it was all I would eat at McDoinalds, if McDonalds was my only option. (Is that an endorsement? I’m not sure.) Not as bad as a Big Mac, Quarter Pounder, or “Hamburger,” anyway. The Filet-o-fish at least doesn’t seem like a sad parody of something that ought to be better. (Though even then I could never bring myself to ask for one by it’s trade name - it’s just too goddamned silly. “I’ll have a fish sandwich.”) ---

One of the best meals I ever ate was a Filet-o-Fish and fries at the McDonald’s in Algeciras, Spain after 4 months of eating nothing but Spanish food. Mmm, good old American-flavored grease! ---

I patronize MickeyD’s so rarely I usually go with my default order of a Big Mac and a Royale w/cheese. But I do enjoy tossing down a FoF or two with a large order of fries and frosty beverage every year or two. And then I’m good. ---

On the rare occasion that we get McD’s, the only thing my usually not-picky 7 year old son will eat is a Filet O Fish with no cheese or tartar sauce. He thinks a “giant fish stick” in a bun is the best thing ever. They are just ‘meh’ for me.
