There have been TV shows that I missed, but rarely one whose closing makes me ferklempt. I know it’s going on with Noah Trevor (or Trevor Noah), and I’m sure he’s good, but it won’t be the same. Stewart is the greatest blend of entertainer and commentator to come along in many years, as significant as Thomas Nash. He’s the best at what he does. So, any thoughts on the final episode tonight? ---

I imagine we’ll see tons of former and current correspondents come out. I bet we see Steve and Stephen and tons of others. I’ll miss Stewart. It’s going to take Trevor Noah a few years to find his groove. I don’t think Stewart got great until 9/11, honestly. ---

I still keeping hoping that it’s just a big Andy Kaufmanesque fake-out and on tonight’s show he will say “You thought I was really leaving? Suckers, I’ll be here forever!” ☹ ---

I’m going to miss him and his show. I wish him the best, but I wish he would change his mind and stay at least until this next election is over. ---

So there it goes, the show I have watched the most in my life. By far, probably. I guess second place is Arrested Development due to multiple rewatchings, but it can’t be close. The Daily Show was best 2002-2008 when it had John Oliver, Colbert, George Bush. Also back then Stewart was a little more fresh. The 50th time he does the “I pulled a muscle in my shoulder joke” it’s not that amusing anymore. I don’t believe that the show in the future will be something I am interested in watching. I don’t think Noah is up to such a huge task. Also he got embarrassingly drunk once and naked for some reason. ---

I feel the same, but I can understand him just being tired of it all. He’s seemed more lively since he’s announced that he’s leaving. I’m looking forward to the episode tonight. Colbert’s last episode was just about perfect, I’m curious how this will measure up. ---

I’m sorry he won’t be around for the election cycle but I totally get why he wouldn’t want to repeat himself. Heck, just read the Elections forum to see how exactly and boringly 2011-12 is being repeated there. ---

But he _ran the “Daily Show company”_ and was the voice they wrote for. As Rory Albanese, the showrunner for Larry Wilmore now, and a principal writer for JS said (paraphrasing) he built the machine. We didn’t know it could run on it’s own until John Oliver took over, but when we saw that, it was amazing to realize what Stewart had built. So: different from Nast, Twain and Rogers, but totally respect-worthy. ---

I kept trying to think of which former correspondents hadn’t shown up yet, as many as there were it still seemed like there would be more somehow. Those are ginormous shoes young Trevor is stepping into, I hope he does well. ---
