# Find actual manufacturer of product

How can one find the Actual Manufacturer of a product being sold under a generic  
or private label?

What are you trying to suss out?

The maker of electrical / electronic equipment with a UL listing can often be found by searching with the listing number - for example, if I plug **ul e209052** into Google, I find that the power supply for one of my external hard drives was made by someone called Welland Industrial.

For food, try searching on **who makes xxxx** For example, **who makes safeway dog food** brings up [The Pet Food List](http://www.thepetfoodlist.com/manufacturers.htm), which says Doane Pet Care makes pet food for Safeway and a lot of other grocery chains.

Beyond that, it can get tough and may involve patient searching

Thanks- Im trying to SUSS out the manufacturer of a specific brand of landscape  
dyes and colorants.  
Turf paint-mulch dye,etc

Sounds like something that would have an MSDS. (Material Safety Data Sheet) You can probably get your desired info from that.

I have the MSDS’s on all the products from the reseller but I can’t seem to find any  
linking info that leads me to the source. Maybe i have overlooked something. Will  
take another closer look.
