I call “foul” on this one too, since there were many products/companies/etc. intentionally using the misspelled version of “millennium” in the years before Y2K. This even included a major car manufacturer (Japanese I believe, but I can’t remember off the top of my head which one exactly). ---

ect. pulls 858,000 hits, but apparently ECT is a valid abbreviation for a whole lot of things, so its hard to say how many actual misspellings this accounts for. ---

Searched English pages for cemetary. Results 1 - 10 of about 143,000 Searched English pages for neice. Results 1 - 10 of about 41,100 Searched English pages for occassion. Results 1 - 10 of about 171,000 Searched English pages for neccessary. Results 1 - 10 of about 87,800 Searched English pages for licence. Results 1 - 10 of about 1,520,000 Is ‘licence’ a valid variant spelling of license? Merriam-Webster online dictionary doesn’t list one. In keeping with the spirit of this contest I vote we call this activity ‘Googlewacking’. 😃 ---

Ooh, **Mangetout** ’s last post gave me an idea: Searched the web for warez. Results 1 - 10 of about 11,400,000 But I’m sure this will probably be challenged on the same basis as ‘millenium’. Still beats that misspelling at it’s own game though. ---
