Not sure I’m nerdy enough for this crowd, but… I’m so nerdy I once organized all of my scifi/fantasy collection alphabetically by publisher then alphabetically by author (or anthology editor) within publisher and numerically by series (or chronologically, for shared universe stories) within author. Then alphabetically by title for anything left over. With a system to determine where a series split between multiple publishers would be shelved. ---

I’m so nerdy that… …I, along with my sister, insisted that our mother name her cat Thrasymachus, after a character in Plato’s _Republic_. …I named my older cat Anastasia, and insist that it be pronounced in the proper, Greek manner. …We named our younger cat Desdemona, accent on the second syllable, after the character in Verdi’s _Otello_. Not the character in Shakespeare’s _Othello_; that’s pronounced differently. …I actually have a periodic table in my wallet, just in case. I am not a chemist or scientist of any stripe. ---

I named my little black kitty Persephone because she’s my little Queen of the Underworld (and acts like a right Queen of the Underworld too!). It’s funny how smug a cat can look when one pronounces their name correctly, even if it’s as simple as ‘Cat’. ---

I don’t normally consider myself very nerdy but the other day the following words came right out of my mouth: “3NF (third normal form) Rocks!” And I meant it.
