Yes, the ancient Indians were unusual in their interest in very large integers, even in distant antiquity (check out the Yajurveda hymn to the powers of ten up to a trillion or so, which is definitely not younger than early first millennium BCE at the latest, and which AFAIK is the most quantitatively extensive system of number words in any contemporary culture).
