# Finishing/Protecting Leather Crafts

I’m doing some leather working from kits (pocket knife pouches) with my Webelos Scout den. I read online that they can be colored with Sharpies, but I can’t find anything to use as a protective coating to prevent water damage or the colors from running.

Can I just use polyurathane? Or do I need something specific for leather?
