I was totally joking about the “thread going on too long” thing, just trying to lighten things up as they have been so serious and vile for lo these last 6 pages…I feel more informed on the matter thanks to everyone’s contributions, and continue to be amazed at the level of vitriol surrounding this issue by people that aren’t even _there_ and aren’t directly impacted by the situation. Eh, dishonesty is just a pet peeve of mine, and one this website of all places, it shouldn’t be tolerated. Then again, stupidity is also a pet peeve of mine… I don’t suffer fools gladly all that often either. And I suppose willful ignorance doesn’t really tickle me either (I think you can see where this is going…) I can, and have, engaged in some good and polite discussions over the years as to Where We Go From Here. Unfortunately, people who have their facts straight, are honest, and approach the issue to discuss their ideas rather than sell a deceptive narrative on this subject are fairly rare. For every few folks like spoke, elvis, elucidator, Red Fury, whoever, we’ve only got one DSeid or Malthus, etc… It’s a shame, but it’s where things stand. ---

For those following along: about two weeks ago I caught elvis lying about a cite. That, or caught him yet again displaying [his utter lack of ability to read and comprehend basic English](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?p=11283349&highlight=wolf#post11283349), due to the fact that he’s somewhat retarded or playing stupid to troll. I’m honestly not sure at this point. At the time, Elvis had just claimed that the Poppendorf Camp, in Germany, under British authority, where the British imprisoned Jews they captured on the high seas after subduing their ship via piracy and murder, was French. Showing, naturally, that if Elvis reads the newspaper and tells you that the weather report says it’ll rain, you should check and make sure he wasn’t reading a recipe for fried hallibut.
