If glancing back into the center of the pit was a firing offence, well, there wouldn’t be any dealers. The pit and the cage in casinos are under full surveillance . There are more cameras that you would believe. In the surveillance rooms, those cameras are always on screen. Players do try and adjust bets and swap cards. They are not successful. The surveillance folks catch them. Additionally, the surveillance people know what to look for, the betting patterns, the tricks, etc. And the dealers are not the ones who do the catching the majority of the time. Also, the pit bosses do interact with the dealers all the time so the dealers are aware of where they are. Slee \*In fact I just did a network project for the surveillance department at our other property. I don’t normally work there, however I installed and configured the system at my prop so I was tasked with getting it done at the other property. Well, that and the I.T. guy at the other property was making a fairly simple project into a giant nightmare. Also, I am in the surveillance room a couple times a week. On top of that, I spent Thursday in the pit working on another project. While working on the project I was chatting with the dealers and pit bosses. One handy thing about working in a casino, especially the pit, is the surveillance. I misplaced a tool. Couldn’t find t anywhere. So I called surveillance and they told me where I left it after rolling back the video. ---

If you’re going to post, take the time to find a permanent link. (And your improved link isn’t much better.) Also as others point out, some casino jobs require concentration. A busy craps table has at least three employees who need to stare at the table, stare at the players and stare at the dice. I find it surprising that three are enough to prevent player scams. If one of the three gets easily distracted by skimpily-clad girls that walk by, I’d expect him to lose his job, if that’s what OP is about. ETA: **sleestak** mentions that most surveillance is “in the sky” these days, but I suspect at-the-table surveillance is still very important for several reasons. ---

I think he’s saying there are so many eyes on these transactions that it is statistically unlikely _everyone_ missed it at once. Basically, the perp does it while the dealer isn’t looking and may fool the dealer, but there are other eyes all over him that don’t miss it. ---
