The shooter has been identified as Wess Roley, a 20 year old. I was in the biz of selling software to police departments at the time that GIS mapping software and also mobile phone ~~spy~~ “situational awareness” systems were the hot new thang in police tech. I’m oblivious to whatever new magic they’ve gotten since. But I probably would not approve of it. ---

USA Today reported that he most recently lived in Phoenix and recently spent some time with his grandfather in Oklahoma. He has relatives about an hour away from the shooting site. He grandfather said that he loved firefighters so the whole thing didn’t make sense to him and speculated that he tried to become a firefighter and was rejected. ---

Gosh, I can’t imagine why he was rejected. My dad was a FF for 36 years. Less than 1% of applicants end up joining the force. ---
