Weird problem with Firefox 3.0.10; I can’t access the SDMB or Youtube at all; when I try clicking on any link to it or typing in the address bar it doesn’t even load anything. Google will stay at the search page, typing into the address bar leaves the page blank.

No other sites seem to be effected, it’s only happened very recently. I’m posting this on IE, which feels like going back to living in a cave after I’ve bought a house, to be frank. Any suggestions? I’ve tried disabling my firewall, and my add-ons (Adblock plus, stumbleupon, Adobe DLM), but to no avail.

Edit: Stupid poster is stupid. I haven’t run S&D yet, I’ll try that.

Spybot scan shows nothing! Any ideas?

Some people have complained of being prematurely logged off the SDMB or not allowed to sign on. They’re not been overly forthcoming on information – we asked for information on operating system, browser, etc. – but those who have responded said were using Firefox.

Why the Firefox software would have a problem with the site is unknown – this is not a problem for our technical department but rather a situation Firefox needs to address. Whatever the problem is it is probably not totally unique to our site, as our site is structurally not all that different from a gazillion other websites out there.

It’s a Firefox problem and perhaps that’s where your inquiries should be addressed.

We’d appreciate hearing back from you if you get any useful information that we can share with the users on this site.

I’m running Firefox 3.0.10 and haven’t had an issue. (famous last words)

I’m on Windows XP SP2

Try clearing your cache under Tools | Clear Private Data

Be warned that you may need to re-login to some sites, but it might help.

I’m using XP home edition, SP3, Firefox 3.0.10. A quick google suggests it might be a problem with the latest version of Firefox, although there’s a surprising lack of info, so the bug must be quite rare.

A virus scan and scanning with AdAware hasn’t thrown up anything either. Interestingly, I can access the main straight dope website, but clicking the link to the boards gives me nothing; the loading bar flashes to halfway for about a second, but I stay on the same page.

Is it possible to roll back versions of Firefox? It only recently upgraded itself to 3.0.10, I’d had no problems before then.

Edit, just cleared by cache, will let y’all know if it works.

Edit2: Nope.

Firefox 3.0.10. XP Professional.

No issues. Try downloading and running Malwarebytes. It’s fixed weird stuff for me in the past.

3.0.10 here. No problems.

Try setting up a new, clean FF profile and see what happens when you use it. Or try entering Firefox safe mode.

are you running any plug-ins for Firefox? No-Script will block most of youtube until you allow that site. Not sure about the Dope though.

Disabled all the plugins, still got the problem.

Bizarrely I logged into a guest account and it works (?!), but on the main account I still have the same problem! For the life of me I can’t fathom what’s going on with it.

Fixed it! For anyone else having an error, you need to start a new profile. Go into run, “C/fire fox.exe location” - p

Start a new profile upon restarting firefox.

[400 Bad Request? - Factual Questions - Straight Dope Message Board](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=515975) may be of use.

This appears to be a problem that came up with 3.0.9 and sometimes shows up in 3.0.10, based on others I’ve seen since having my issues. If it is one or two sites for which access is denied, it may very well be this glitch.
