That makes sense for the White Sox but I’m not sure it makes sense for Kim Ng. The White Sox are not an organization filled with recent evidence of glory or professionalism.
Neither were the Marlins.
Bumped for an update on Kim Ng’s career.
I had to click the link to learn what “AUSL” is. American Unlimited Softball League. Which is a budding female pro softball league with 4 teams for now.
I find the euphemism of “Unlimited” for “Women’s” slightly off-putting, as if they expected that naming to fool me (or the rest of the US audience) into watching. Not impressed with that bit of marketing sophistry.
Nevertheless I wish Ms. Ng and the league well. I’ll certainly try to tune in once they get underway next month.
They probably felt like they needed to add in another initial for the acronym, because the acronym ASL is commonly known as standing for American Sign Language, as well as being the acronym for a bunch of other things.
I agree it needed more than just “ASL”. Even American Professional Softball League “APSL” would have been better.
I’m not sure why “Unlimited” struck a sour note with me but it did. Anyone?
Athletes Unlimited is an org that runs professional womens’ leagues for multiple sports, including volleyball, basketball, lacrosse (suspended recently due to player availability), and this year, softball:
I’m pretty sure I’ve seen their basketball and volleyball on TV.
Wow. Ignorance fought. Thank you. Objection withdrawn.
