First Measles death in Texas - Feb, 2025, and now in other parts of the US

Well, there’s trust in CDC and trust in the doc.

The least bad answer is something close to

The CDC has been taken over by know-nothing criminals actively trying to kill Americans. Once you understand that, you’ll recognize they are now lying and I’m telling what has been the truth for the last 50 years. Which is also what CDC also said before they were invaded and destroyed from within.

The CDC and other federal health agencies have been heavily corrupted.

Look instead to the American Academy of Pediatrics, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and the Infectious Diseases Society of America for reliable, trustworthy information on childhood infectious diseases and vaccines.

In case you wonder if there is cause for alarm.

Measles is raging worldwide: are you at risk?

I would like to know who the people are who say that the U.S. needs to stop being declared measles-free. One would think that literally thousands of cases would clinch the decision for them.

I’m unable to make sense of your post as either serious or sarcasm.

The ideologues want to retain the measles-free designation while also denying there’s anything to see as soon thousands, then millions will be infected.

Reality has other ideas.

It’s unclear to me what path you’re trying to take through this. But sometimes I’m really obtuse.

“Herd immunity” is so woke. Glad to see “Free-range herd immunity” in action.

BTW, I’m being sarcastic about being glad, but not being sarcastic about the terms. Dumbshits.

I think it’s just a matter of time. The US gets reviewed in a couple of months, and we’ll lose the “measles free” designation when that happens.

That’s OK. But I keep hearing that the U.S. had been, AFAIK, measles-free or nearly so since about 2000, and that official status has yet to be revoked.

The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) informs that the review of the measles elimination status in the United States and Mexico will take place in November 2026, during the Commission’s regular annual meeting of the Regional Verification Commission for the Elimination of Measles, Rubella, and Congenital Rubella Syndrome (RVC).

Just saw a post from an antivaxer on Facebook, sneering about how no one has died from measles yet in the U.S. in 2026 in spite of the upsurge in cases. When the next deaths occur, count on AVers to scoff at the “small” number - remember, only what happens in the U.S. counts.

PAHO is reporting more than two dozen measles deaths in 13 countries in the Americcas in 2025, plus vastly more hospitalizations for complications like pneumonia.

Virtually all of that is preventable by vaccination.

On the NYT front page:

Measles Cases Hit New Record in U.S., as Vaccination Rates Wane

More measles cases have been reported in the United States in the last two years than in all the years from 2000 through 2024 combined.

If you recover from measles(you probably will), there’s a chance all your immunity to other viral illnesses is gone.

You will be immuno-compromised possibly for years. This is not a place you wanna be.

Get vaxxed if you haven’t already.

Excellent point. Kinda puts paid to the argument that you just have to suffer the disease itself, and you’ll be o.k.

More correctly you need to survive the disease.
Totally avoiding contact also works as an option … though lacking practicality.

Well, technically, if you don’t survive the disease, you can be quite sure of never contracting it again. So it works both ways.

Everyone alive today who had the measles before the vaccine survived.

Maybe I’m just tired, but I’m having trouble figuring out what you’re saying.

It’s a joke (I hope) about survivorship bias.

Anyone who died of the measles before the vaccine would not be alive today. The only ones left survived their cases.

Given how long ago the vaccine became commonplace, there are very few people in the wealthy world alive today from the pre-vaccine era. My parents were of that era. And died of something else decades ago. I can’t speak to the measles vaccination status of the poor world, but for all I know, they’ve been well-covered for decades too.

Measles vaccination, or naturally acquired immunity, are not heritable traits. Each generation starts off clean. As such, the survivors of decades or centuries before are irrelevant.

Of course, with the fools who’ve quit vaccinating now, we’re growing a whole new crop of unvaccinated folks who’ll once again get to be measles kills or measles survivors. Fast forward 20-20 years in this benighted nation of morons and we’ll be watching this unfold daily.
