I love using a gift card at Walmart. It always takes the cashier a minute to wake up and realize that they have to take the extra step of beeping the card’s UPC code for the transaction to finish. Get used to it, Walmart cashiers. I have a lot of money on this card and I’m going to use every red cent of it. ---

Fuck you, feline lymphoma. We lost our beautiful 9-year-old orange kitty to you on Monday. He’s been sick for about two years, though had a rebound with a series of vitamin B shots that worked for a while. Back we went for a recheck last week, and he’s been losing more weight, his blood test values were wonky, and the x-rays were inconclusive as to whether it was lymphoma or inflammatory bowel disease. He had an ultrasound on Monday morning, still inconclusive. The test which would give the most information was a biopsy by endoscopy, and a liver biopsy, so I agreed, after all I wanted to help my kitty and find out the best course of treatment to make him feel better. Unfortunately he had a bad outcome, as they say, as the anesthesia was apparently the straw that broke the camels back. He was much sicker than we thought, and never came fully out of the anesthesia. We were called back to the vet’s office, and got to hold him for a while, and made the decision to let him go. He went in and out of awareness for a while, but was having so much trouble breathing and was incredibly weak. The vet administered the final shots while he was in my husband’s arms. We both can’t stop crying. So feline small cell lymphoma, go fuck yourself. You are useless and should be eliminated from the face of the earth. Stupid disease. ---

So sorry **Paula** , that’s awful. All three of the cats I’ve lost have been from lymphoma, and it presented three different ways. Two I knew about and had time to prepare, one I didn’t. ---

Kitties are such great companions that it hurts like hell when they leave. My last fuzzy friend passed away right after I had my first daughter. I’ll never forget his determined sitting on my lap when I was nine months along trying to figure how to fit his sweet purring furry butt into the curves of my belly. ---

Fuck me for coming in here to post such a lame rant when you guys have lost your beloved dog and cat. I have an 18-1/2 year old kitty who is clearly on a downward slide, and know that I could lose her any day. The others are younger, and we have time, but I still appreciate each of them very much. So yeah, screw my shallow complaint I was going to make. Gotta go see the cat. ---

Sometimes I think Walmart exists just to piss me off. Went in to get something in the electronics department, looked at the display models and found one I liked, asked another employee to help and she radios the electronics guy, he comes back and I point to the display model I want, he says they have been out of those for awhile, looks behind counter and says they are still out. Since they have been out for awhile, did it ever occur to you dipshits to take down the display model? ---

I’m still mad, can’t let it go. We aren’t “that kind of friends” so I’m not in a position to put the smack down, but I’m getting close. Your kid is not 4, she’s almost 14. She will be in high school next year. Do not bring her over here for dinner tonight and not make her eat what I’m cooking. It’s not exotic, or spicy, or anything normal people don’t eat every day. Everytime we have dinner with this group, everyone else’s kids (WAY younger, BTW) eat something- a piece of bread, some salad, spaghetti and/or the sauce, and if they are hating something at the moment they skip it. They say please and thank you. I am not going to enjoy watching you make your little sweetie a hot dog bun and mustard, but no freaking hot dog, or peanut butter crackers, for the hundredth time because “it’s the only thing she likes?” If this is how she’s going to be, at least make her make it herself. She’s practically an adult, for F’s sake. ---

My city is apparently going to spend $11 million on baseball. Not that I hate baseball, but how about investing that money in public transit instead? Heck, just use enough of that money to restore the bus service that was FUCKING CUT, and then spend the rest of the money on baseball. There. Nice compromise. I just want my 11:00 bus back dammit. ---

Finally finished a massive sewing project - a huge fractal for TheKid. Huzzah! Now I’m waiting for my next pattern to show up in the mail and I hate waiting. Have the fabric, have the floss, want to get going NOW. Hurry up, mail carrier. We had a robbery/shooting nearby last night. Difficult to sleep with helicopters slowly flying overhead looking for the guy. Also found out one of TheKid’s close friends had just walked out of the store when the robber/shooter walked in. Too close to home. ---

Fuck the TU Munich’s exam signup system. Fuck it with a rusty hook. For each subject, even subjects without an end-of-the-year exam, you have to sign up for the end-of-the-year exam. If you don’t, they can’t grade you in that subject. Now, just for reference, that exam doesn’t become available for signups until halfway through the year (you have to sign up for the classes themselves well beforehand), and there is no easy way in the interface to automatically sign up for the exams for the classes you’re signed up for, or even to just filter out those classes in the massive, poorly-organized tree that you have to wade through each time you want to sign up for an exam. The result: students who trawl through their schedules to figure out what to sign up for and accidentally _miss_ something. Oh, and if you missed that deadline, you’re SOL. You cannot sign up after it’s over - even if there’s another _6 fucking weeks_ before the fucking exam. And an added bonus: subjects that happen every semester don’t have make-up exams. The thrust at the end of all of this: I get to take “Numeric Programming” for the THIRD FUCKING SEMESTER IN A ROW. Yes, other people pull it off without fucking it up. Yes, not everyone misses signups. But god damn if the system isn’t about as shitty as it could possibly be. :mad: ---
