First story with the same plot as Groundhog Day

I missed this the first time round, but I’m surprised to not see any mention of Sisyphus.

Christmas Every Day doesn’t look like a time-loop story to me at all; they’re not re-living December 25th, they’re just celebrating Christmas on December 26th, and the 27th, and the 28th…

It’s not a perfect time loop according to our modern conventions for the idea. But it’s clear that it is indeed Christmas every morning they wake up and that people are supposed to behave as if it were Christmas each time as if they had been waiting a year for it to arrive. The connection with the modern tale is good enough for me, even if the precise details are a little off.

Yes, the important thing it has in common with more modern time loop stories is that ‘Christmas every day’ is not their choice. It’s imposed by some outside force. It wasn’t a case of an entire society deciding to celebrate Christmas every day (though that’s in interesting concept in itself).

Or we could do it again tomorrow all over again…!

Three words; shoe event horizon.

Probably because those came way after Groundhog Day.

But if we’re just throwing out timeloop stories willy nilly now, one I really like is the episode of Supernatural where Dean gets killed repeatedly, resetting the day each time.

Four words: I don’t get it.

Well, it seems I conflated the Frogstar Betans, and the Quarlvistans, so it’s especially lame.
