I understand just fine. You sullied the thread without adding anything of value to it.
Yes, no, and Damn Right! March 31st is the last day to see the first Shelby Cobra on display there.
How about shooting guns? Battlefield Vegas has historical and current weapons and, for enough money, you can run over a car with a tank. It’s located near the north end of The Strip behind Circus Circus.
A little pricey…but the free Humvee pick up and drop off is a cute touch.
what no ones mentioned hookers and blow ?:D:p
seriously if I wanted to make a new casino id base it on the mos Eisley spaceport from star wars I mean theres several forms of in universe gambling that you could convert to casino games and you could have family friendly shows and have "jabbas dancing girls " for the adult experience
Disney would never do it tho
if you like shooting there’s several shooting ranges that specialize in letting you shoot guns that aren’t legal anywhere else in the country
There used to be a place that was ran by one of the people who did all the marksman tests for the army and it was set up like an actual testing range …. an uncle used to stop when passing through to see if he could still qualify like be did in the nam era, he could and always got a discount because of it
Dig This - If you ever played with Tonka toys as a kid.
Drink at Frankie’s Tiki Room.
Buy kitsch at Bonanza Gift Shop.
Go to Parasol Down at Wynn, ask for Cathy, and tell her a weird, bald-headed dude in a Hawaiian shirt you know on the internet said to say “Hello!” She’ll know who I am.
Wow dude. Just…no. I’d be mewling in a puddle of my own feces just standing there looking down.
Seconding the Shelby Museum, it’s free and you can go at your own pace if you miss the daily tour of those beautiful cars (and trucks).
The Hilton used to have a Star Trek attraction that was fantastic. It was part thrill ride, part immersive experience with actors. And afterward, you could hang out at Quark’s bar, with a fully made-up Ferengi bartender and alien patrons. It was awesome.
Sadly, it’s gone now.
There’s ziplining downtown, along Fremont Street.
If you like occulty stuff, Zak Bagan’s Haunted Museum is kind of cool, but make sure you can stand for a long time–the line is long to get in, and the tour takes about 90 minutes during which you get exactly one opportunity to sit down for about 5 minutes.
The Neon Museum really comes to life at night, (you just have to love Happy Shirt!) and the Brilliant! show is really cool.
We saw Absinthe and are planning to see Opium in April. AFAIK, they’re not related thematically other than being produced by the same writers.
If you work for a large or even just largish company, see if you can get access to a discount site called Tickets At Work. Their discounts may or may not be better than others available with some googling and hoping, but they are 100% legit, so no worries about buying bogus show tickets, for example.
If you feel like going a little off the beaten path, you can walk east down Fremont St., about four blocks past the end of the Experience, to Atomic Liquors.
At first glance, it’s just your typical dive bar, but it has a colorful history - it’s the oldest free-standing tavern in Vegas, it holds the oldest liquor license in the city, and it derives its name from the fact that, back in the '50s, bargoers would gather on the roof to watch the nuclear tests happening north of town in the desert. The whole place is decorated with Atom-punk memorabilia, and the drinks are pretty good. (It’s the only place I’ve ever drank at that had a house version of a Pimm’s Cup.)
Ah yes, Quark’s bar, where their signature drink was called a Warp Core Breach and would get you seriously hammered.
And the bathroom there had urinals that would talk “detecting high amounts of alcohol…”
Speaking of the Hilton (now the Westgate) and bathrooms, the mens room by the sports book has amusing decor
I’ve seen a couple of Tapeface’s TV appearances - he’s definitely funny and offbeat for at least 5-10 minutes. Can he sustain this for a whole show? Dunno, but obviously Vegas thinks so.
The only attraction in the Vegas area that would interest me is Hoover Dam. I don’t gamble or drink, and I have my own swimming pool… I’ve often thought that I might be the only miserable person in Vegas. I’m married so hookers are out, and I hate extreme heat. And I’d rather go to NYC to see a show. So what I’m saying is… Vegas can kick rocks.
Thanks for nothing, I suppose.
We’re spending one afternoon and evening in Vegas on the way back from a week long hiking trip in Utah in April. Last year we did a similar trip but flew out Saturday evening, this year I convinced my wife to spend the night so we can see a show in the evening and enjoy the Strip at night.
I’m trying to decide between seeing Penn and Teller vs one of the Cirque du Soleil shows (Beatles most likely). I think we’ll end up seeing P&T since it’s pretty easy to see CdS shows elsewhere. Since the P&T show is at 9:00 we’ll have a nice dinner somewhere before the show. Any suggestions for a place up high to have a nightcap with a great view of the Strip?
I’d say go see the shows, but that’s not exactly cheap. I went on a timeshare thing to see a couple shows last time I went there to save money. I wish I just bought the tickets. I find the low price of casino food kind of offsets the cost of shows though. Maybe get a groupon.
