Hoosiers (Sports) The Dirty Dozen (War) The French Connection (Cop) The Deer Hunter (Okay, another war) City of Hope, or Lone Star, or Sunshine State, or… (every guy should see at least one John Sayles film) ---

One that isn’t old enough to be sure it’s good enough for the list is _Shooter_ Second list, 1998 or later. 1. _We Were Soldiers Once_ 2002 - As good as _Saving Private Ryan_, without being so Spielberg-ish. 2. _Black Hawk Down_ 2001 - I remember when this happened, so it has a little more impact than Vietnam movies do. 3. _Mystery, Alaska_ - Obligatory sports flick. _Last Man Standing_ is just a bit old _Fight Club_? I never saw it _Sin City_ might be a bit … I don’t know. Maybe That one crime movie with all the Cooper Mini’s? One of the Bourne movies? Most haven’t been out long enough to tell ---

IANAG, but seems to me you have a bit of a shortage on James Bond movies in these lists. I find that strange for some reason. My husband’s list is heavy on westerns: The Magnificent Seven - Western, plus it gives you your Charles Bronson fix The Good, the Bad and the Ugly - Clint Eastwood, plus the soundtrack for your life Rio Bravo/Rio Lobo - C’mon, these are the same movie!! The Hunt for the Red October - Sean Connery fix The Quiet Man - A John Wayne movie you can watch with the “little woman”! ---

I am going to cheat: Let’s start with the \*\*Godfather Saga \*\* to get the first two movies. Kelly’s Heroes Die Hard (Also needs to make the list for top 5 Christmas movies) Animal House over Caddy Shack but it is close. Raiders of the Lost Ark. Damn, no sports movie. 5 is tough. ---

Tough to narrow it down to 5. _The Godfather_ _Citizen Kane_ _Unforgiven_ _Blazing Saddles_ The last slot is the toughest. How can _Casablanca_ not make the list? How can you have a list with no Alfred Hitchcock movies? How do you leave off any representation of science fiction? How can a guy consider himself well rounded without an Arnold movie, a Stallone movie, a Norris movie, a Seagall movie, and a Van Damme movie? No Cary Grant, no Bruce Willis? Sacrilege! Despite all that, the last slot must go to: _The Big Sleep (1946)_ ---
