James Herriot, because he’s humorous and self-deprecating John Cleese, because he’s humorous and not self-deprecating Buzz Aldrin, because he’s hero and walked on the fucking moon. Neil Peart, because I’m a drummer, though not fit to carry his sticks. And one special guest, if you’ll permit me… Professor Tom Lehrer. Exceedingly clever and talented genius. Looking back at this list, I appear shallow. Choosing funny entertainment over deep scientific matter and importance. Still, I’d pick Alan Sherman over any president, any day. I made my list after reading the OP only, without checking anyone else’s list, and was shocked to find only one name that wasn’t already picked (and not the one I would I would have guessed). [ul] [li]Stephen Colbert[/li][li]Jon Krakauer[/li][li]Roger Ebert[/li][li]Barack Obama[/li][li]Alan Alda[/li][/ul]I was going to say, “and of course, Alan Alda” in an ironic way, but then I saw **Iggy’s** list. I guess I’m not quite as much of an outlier on the Dope as I thought. I am a little surprised that of all of my picks, I’m the first to pick Ebert. Such a cool, interesting guy, who can speak (or at the very least write) intelligently on so many subjects beyond movies.
