I read a pamphlet on flag use and the correct way to set a flag at
so-called “half mast” is to take the flag to the top of the pole, then move to
half mast and then move the flag to 3/4 mast. At the end of the day the flag is
moved to half mast and then to full mast and then take down the flag. I am trying to
find this pamphlet that I got when I bought a large flag for our ground based
pole.

Welcome to the Straight Dope, **kschumaker**. I believe that the column you’re commenting on is [Can a flag be at “three-quarter mast”?](http://www.straightdope.com/mailbag/mhalfmas.html)
