"Flash Gordon" (1980)-Was A Sequele Planned?

Oh god, thanks for reminding me this piece of shit exists.

And a brilliant idea to produce a sequel parody of a movie that hadn’t been made yet.

You mean he never got out of the cock-a-doodie rocket?

I see what you did there.

“Flash, I love you, but we only have 45 minutes to save the world!!!”
“We have plenty of time. They don’t call me Flash for nothing.”

…And a look of disappointment creeps across Dale arden’s face.

I saw Flesh Gordon in a theater when it came out, in its true form, which is no longer available. The sad thing is that this porn parody of Flash Gordon is better in every way (except perhaps for the Queen soundtrack) than the 1980 full Hollywood (or Rome, perhaps) version. The acting is no worse, the special effects were as good or better, and it was both funnier and sexier than the 1990 version.

I liked how the trailer, which seems PG-rated, couldn’t even give the names of some of the characters.

As for the 1990 version, I saw it on DVD after hearing good things, and I’m also of the "it sucks"The only positive commentary on the DVD was from some guy who did the artwork. The interview with the writer made it clear what a mess the movie was. But the soundtrack was good.

The “Captain Proton” show-in-a-show on Star Trek: Voyager did the same thing.

I always preferred Ornella Mutti as Princess Aura. A friend and I always laugh at the line “use the bore worms Klytus” which can be taken to have a smutty conotation.

Most folk’ll never bore a worm, but then again some folk’ll…
Like Klytus, the slack-jawed yokel…

I am genuinely amazed that anyone can think the 1980 film was bad. Amazed. It was just pure fun.

But just think; we could’ve had Mel Brooks playing Adolf Hitler in the Führerbunker! How could that not be awesome. And maybe even Cloris Leachman as Eva Braun.

Space Mutiny aka Mutiny in Space aka Spaceship of Cinder Block Construction ended with a close-up of the antagonist’s blasted body – and the eyes popped open. That shot could not have been cornier if they had included fresh maize ears.

I liked the 1980 version-it was a lot of fun. It is still watchable…and I think a sequel would be doable. And Pricess Aura was hot!..I remember that line from Ming’s hechman “Princvess Aura enjoyed the torture”.
I wonder what Mutti looks like today?

Pretty darned good for 55 years old. This picture looks to have been taken at the same event (Cannes 2009) as the profile photo on her IMDB profile. Looks like she’s still active as an actress.
