Often it’s quite handy if you allow the person _actually holding the position/thought_ to express it in their terms. It neatly avoids such strawmen as the OP generated. OTHO, strawmen do have their purpose - they are quite good I understand, in the fields, scaring off crows, and fun decorations at hayrides and fall parties and the like. ) ---

I’ve met lunatics, too. But I know a lot of liberals who aren’t. a parody of an extremist position may in fact be held by some folks (on either end of the spectrum) however, it becomes a straw man of epic proportions when one attempts, as the OP does, to ascribe this extremist position to the general/ ‘most’ position. ---

**Cherry Pie Recipe** 3 cups cherries, washed, stoned 1 1/2 cups sugar 3 tablespoons water 1 tablespoon cornstarch 1 tablespoon flour Line pie plate with pie crust. Mix cornstarch and flour with the water. Put cherries in pie crust. Sprinkle with the sugar. Pour over them the cornstarch mixture. Wet edges of under crust, cover with upper crust, and press edges slightly together. Bake in moderate oven for about 35 minutes. ---

As regards the OP: Can we stop bashing **Chumpsky** now? If we leave him alone, maybe he’ll come back with some nice pie recipes. If we’re really lucky, he’ll take pains to attribute them to Betty Crocker rather than claiming them as his own. ---
