# Flickers of Kindness

Things in my life have been kind of bleak lately. I don’t leave the house, I mostly just sit and cry.

But yesterday a friend forced me to go out with her and get lunch. She talked about anything and everything, and had me smiling a little.  
The day before I needed to get something notarized. Didn’t know how I’d manage interacting with someone, but he couldn’t have been kinder, even when I found it hard to explain what I needed without crying.

Today I threw caution to the wind, and went to a local jewelry store to get something engraved on my wedding ring. The ladies there came to hug me when I began crying - I was so embarrassed, but they were very understanding.

So while my tiny corner of the world is still sad and dark, the kindness of people gives me reason to keep moving forward.

Sometimes it seems like kindness is a forgotten virtue and the world is a uncaring place, and the thought of it gets me down, but then I see a story like yours, and it gives me hope that there still are folks who practice what my mother always told me as a child, “Be kind.”

Your friend is treasure. Keep looking forward. All the best.

A wounded heart takes a long time to heal, and even then not fully. It will get better over time. I’m with @pjd , you need to to stay close to that wonderful friend! 💓
