Robert Taylor is wearing [this flight jacket](https://www.agefotostock.com/age/en/Stock-Images/Rights-Managed/ZUJ-19401227-brt-g90-475) in _Flight Command_ (1940). I’m not familiar with pre-war jackets. It kind of looks like a USAAF A-2, but the pockets are different and it has lapels. It’s obviously not a Navy G-1. I _think_ I’ve seen a pre-war Navy jacket that looks like it, but I’m not finding it now. ID please?

My semi-informed opinion based on a bunch of Google searches: It’s a prop, a fashion jacket with a name patch sewed on it for legitimacy.

I’ve just found [this thread](https://www.thefedoralounge.com/threads/real-usn-pre-ww-ii-flight-jacket.89570/), and it seems they agree with you. I’ll note this post:

> Looks like a 1930’s civil flight jacket style. The back is interesting. Civil patterns influenced military ones and visa versa.
