I didn’t say anything about script blockers. I use uBlock Origin with Chrome, and it does nothing on Tronc sites. NoScript does block bad stuff very effectively. It also breaks lots of websites, which is why I don’t use it. ---

You need [uBlock Origin Extra](https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/ublock-origin-extra/pgdnlhfefecpicbbihgmbmffkjpaplco), then. I’m not sure why it’s not a part of regular uBlock Origin (even if it would be disabled by default since it’s more of a beta). The scripts there are exploiting problems with Chrome, essentially overloading it and then slipping things in. Different tricks, such as making them think you aren’t using Chrome and deliberately breaking scripts, are used to try and stop this. ---

Facebook was the final 450,000,000 nails in the coffin lid of message boards. I have, since its inception, participated in a message board involving my sub-specialty of cinematography. Once Facebook got going, someone started a Facebook Group naming it after our sub-specialty. Traffic dropped off markedly on the message board. Which is a shame. That said, I sure hope that they leave the Dope alone. We’ve discussed quite a few times before the idea of archiving everything, everything- and relaunching elsewhere. – worried – ---

I participate on [SteveHoffman.tv](http://SteveHoffman.tv), run by an audiophile mastering engineer that has grown to be the best general music discussion forum I’ve ever found. It has no ads (let along browser crippling malware ones), is funded entirely by a single yearly donation round, runs a far more capable Forum software and is vastly more reliable and speedy than the Dope.
