Irony would have been if her ovaries were damaged and needed removing (not that I’d wish such harm upon her) ---

This is nothing new really. We’ve had a few incidents over the years of sturgeons leaping out of the river and clonking people. They get frisky, they jump, they’re big, too many people on the river during that time of the year, someone’s bound to get clobbered. I still think your chances of getting attacked by a shark, alligator or hungry squirrel are a lot higher than those of being beaten by a sturgeon. ---

I started a [similar thread](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?p=7661242#post7661242) about a year ago about similar events. The best reply (in my not exactly humble opinion) was this one by **Sailboat**. I feel like it holds up in this tread too.
