# Florida Gov. Rick Scott cancels high speed rail

All they had to do was the put the thing out to bid and we would _know_ wouldn’t we? The state always has the out that they do not have to accept any of the bids. They do it all the time.

Additional info on this issue just came to light. Turns out, Rick Scott’s lawyer[presented the wrong numbers in court](http://www.tampabay.com/news/politics/legislature/gov-rick-scott-lawyer-to-supreme-court-my-facts-were-wrong-on-high-speed/1163854) while defending Scott’s right to shut this down all on his lonesome.

Wow.

That’s some high level incompetence or malfeasance.

“Oops. Not $110 out of 131 million, 31 out 110 million. Yeah key fact to the case. _Sorrry_!”

And that DNA sample that pinned that guy to the crime? The result was really that it _wasn’t_ him, not that it was. Sorry. But he’s already executed so too late now…

Irrelevant to the broader discussion about the wisdom or lack thereof of the Federal investment in HSR, but still - wow.
