I read this thread title and said, “Has to be Texas…no, Florida…no, Texas…no, Florida.” It’s Florida. And thanks to that state’s “Who shoots first, wins” laws, he may not even be convicted of a crime… ---

Elect people who change them to laws you like. Otherwise, you get what you paid for. Change the system legally from within. Until that happens, suck it up and embrace the current law of the land. ---

The shooter was a retired police captain and SWAT team leader. I can’t imagine how a disciplined guy like that would do something so fucking stupid. Imagine the tense situations he handled during his long career. To freak out and pull out a gun over a guy texting? Makes me wonder if the guy was in early dementia? Very few cops ever rise up the ranks to Captain. I just can’t imagine someone with that training and background doing something like this. There’s really no defense. He shot and killed an unarmed man. He’ll be in prison the rest of his life. ---
